Science catching up to Scripture

A new study reveals that babies as young as 6 months old have the ability to discern right from wrong. Of course, Scripture has declared this to be the case for centuries…

“For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts…” — Romans 2:14-15a

God has written on the hearts of men a sense of right and wrong. It’s what we typically call a conscience. Of course, this does not mean we have the ability to DO right and avoid wrong. Put those same children who KNOW right from wrong in a room with limited toys and there will be conflict. Even though they know it’s wrong to take something that belongs to another, they are still slaves to their own sinful nature and they will take the toy simply because they want it.

Remember, Paul’s letter to the Romans that declares we know right from wrong also declares…

“For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written: ‘None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.’” — Romans 3:9-12

It’s good that medical science is finally catching up with Scripture. Now if we could only get them to understand man’s inability to do good, we could make real progress with people misplacing their trust in government (run by men) and thereby avoid things like these:

  1. When students as me if science is higher than religion I tell them to compare a science book from 10 years ago to one written now. How many planets in the solar system? Has science ever had all the answers?

  2. Chip says:

That’s great. It’d be fun to take a very old science book and go through it marking all the things science used to proclaim as “fact” that are no longer so.
